Why I keep shooting after the first dance
Some of the best photographs of the day happen after 22:00.
By then the speeches are over, the shoes are off and nobody is thinking about the camera any more.
Grandparents dance with grandchildren, old friends sing badly together, and the light from the festoons turns everything warm.
If your budget allows, keep the photographer until the last song. It is the part of the day you will remember least clearly and want to see most.
